YourPlates: meet me at the intersection of social and mobile
February 6, 2009 – Phoenix, Arizona -- Individuals now have a revolutionary way to contact each other in real time, and businesses have a unique method for communicating with their customers. Type http://www.yourplates.mobi/ on a cell phone (or visit http://www.yourplates.com/on a computer), enter a license plate number and send a message. It's that easy.
YourPlates is a license plate messaging network that lets people contact each other through the unique combination of numbers and letters on their license plates. There are 140 million registered vehicles on U.S. roads, which means there are140 million unique license plates. "On the YourPlates network, every license plate is like an email address," according to Andrew Couch, co-founder of Platestar, LLC, which owns the YourPlates proprietary platform.
In full compliance with the Driver's Privacy Protection Act of 1994, and with numerous levels of safety and security, every current license plate is a member of YourPlates. Almost anyone can check or post license plate messages. Members sign-up and create profiles, compelled to join based on their desire to communicate with those they see on the road around them.
License plates can also be searched to discover a flurry of multi-media for a specific person. Users can upload links to their favorite social networks. Those with the proper access can link directly to other's social networking pages, including Facebook, My Space and Twitter. (Members control what is public and privately viewed on their YourPlates pages.)
YourPlates forecasts an exponential growth of users, according to Andrew Phipps, co-founder. "We expect the number of unique users to reach 100,000 within two months," he says, "and grow to 1,000,000 per day within six months, potentially opening numerous new avenues for personal and business contacts."
The expected traffic makes YourPlates appropriate for use by businesses for marketing purposes. In today's economy, marketing dollars are carefully scrutinized. "YourPlates gives businesses a direct line of communication to their target markets," says Andrew Phipps.
Businesses are intrigued by the possibility of connecting with consumers via YourPlates.com. This includes HOT 97.5 KVEG, a Las Vegas radio station that reaches over 200,000 listeners weekly (listeners with an average annual income over $62,000). "With the need to connect with our listeners being more important than ever," says Gary Cox, vice president and general manager, "my staff and I immediately recognized the viability of this concept. Radio reaches over 95% of Americans daily, with the majority of those listening in their vehicles. We are looking forward to the myriad of opportunities that will present themselves through this exciting new concept."
The YourPlates platform contains a simple, do-it-yourself ad management application that can be customized. It allows companies to target their marketing by state, increasing their response rate and return on investment.
The four owners – Andrew Couch, Andrew Phipps, Chris Knutson and Manuel Corrales – may be separated by geography –Nevada, Arizona, Virginia and Argentina– but YourPlates is the united result of their brainstorming, designing, developing and implementing as a strong team with a singular focus. All the work, all the creativity, has been accomplished via the same technology they're using to create YourPlates. "We're definitely entrepreneurs," says Andrew Couch. "Understanding the reach of the Internet, we're using its power to create an innovative, exciting communications platform."
YourPlates was accomplished with no outside funding, a feat in the current economy; they believe it was the right move and will pay off in the near future. "With no loans, we make our own decisions and set our own priorities." says Andrew Couch. "We are beholden to no one but each other."
Yourplates.com, with its mobile site Yourplates.mobi, is your license plate messaging network, meshing drivers with the Internet for limitless communications possibilities. "We complement everyone," says Andrew Couch, "and compete with no one."
